We invite all those attending the ISSA Conference 2024 in Sofia to join us for the opening reception on 22 October (included in the registration fee) and for the conference dinner on 23 October (tickets are available at EUR 55 per person, incl. VAT). Another great networking opportunity will be the dinners on 24 October, where you will have the opportunity to choose between three restaurants and enjoy the local flavors of Sofia.

Welcome Reception & Conference Dinner

Welcome Reception and ISSA’s 25th Anniversary Celebration 

  • Location: Earth and People National Museum

Attendance at the welcome Reception and Anniversary Celebration is included in the conference registration fee. The event will take place at the Earth and People National Museum, a short walk from the conference venue. During the reception, drinks and finger food will be served. Located in a historical building at the heart of Sofia, the Earth and People National Museum is one of the largest mineralogical museums in the world. Its collection covers 40% of all known naturally occurring minerals as well as man-made ceramics prepared by Bulgarian scientists. The museum features a pipe organ that is still being constructed but is functional and will form a part of the evening’s program.

Join us for a conference dinner at a unique city venue. With an interior inspired by the artistic spirit of Art Nouveau and the romance of an old Viennese train station, Vienna Café & Restaurant will take you on a journey through the wonderful flavors of Central Europe. Here you will find a huge variety of classic dishes and traditional specialties, which combined with selected draft and bottled beers will create a real symphony of flavors. It will be a place to meet, eat and enjoy the ambiance as you take this opportunity to network and meet informally with other conference participants.

Restaurant Moma Bulgarian Food and Wine

Moma is a fine dining spot in the heart of Sofia with menu specially designed to offer a modern twist on traditional Bulgarian cuisine. A must-try dining spot for visitors of Sofia who are curious to savor traditional recipes from different regions of Bulgaria ranging from clay pot roasted meat dishes to a selection of vegetarian options with Bulgarian cheeses, veggie salads or the banitsa, a savory pastry filled with feta cheese. 

The establishment combines a delightful culinary experience of authentic Bulgarian recipes with a cozy and welcoming ambiance of a beautifully decorated interior that features local folklore motifs.  

The restaurant is open every day until 23:30 local time. 

The 3-course menu includes:

Aubergine

A cozy place located in the heart of Sofia, Aubergine is the only Bulgarian restaurant paring its dishes with local craft beers. The menu draws inspiration from modern Mediterranean cuisine blending rich flavors, enticing aromas and vibrant colors.  

The restaurant is open every day until 22:00 local time. 

The 3-course menu includes: 

  • Mayonnaise sauce salad with smoked salmon, edamame, potatoes, beetroot marinated in thyme and clove, capers, celery and purslane. 
  • Roasted pork tenderloin in bacon, marinated with sage, sun-dried tomatoes and capers, aubergine puree with oyster sauce, garnished with arugula salad with marinated beetroot in thyme, clove, parmesan and honey & mustard dressing. 
  • Tamarind cheesecake garnished with dates and nuts. 

Vegetarian option:

  • Aubergine staffed with green lentils, basmati rice, sun-dried cherries, cashew, zaatar and cinnamon grilled with mozzarella and Bulgarian hard cheese with tomato sauce with saffron.
