This one-day seminar focuses on inspiring examples of ECEC for refugee children in preschool age in four West European countries (The Netherlands, Belgium, the UK and Norway). The aim is to share these examples and present a toolbox for professional development of ECEC professionals and volunteers. The seminar is organised in the context of the MyREF Erasmus+ project Multilingual early childhood education and care for young refugee children.
The theme of this seminar was chosen, because refugee children in the preschool age are often neglected in national and local policies. In spite of non-existing or unclear policies, we identified many inspirational practices that we want to share with the participants.
This seminar welcomes practitioners and volunteers, policy makers and researchers, who wish to learn more about ECEC for refugee children.
A number of keynote speakers will present current issues around young refugee children and trauma (Ilse Derluyn, Ghent), young refugee children and play (Kris Kalkman, Trondheim), young refugee children and language (t.b.a.). There will be table sessions where topics are presented that are related to the theme and there will also be a panel discussion about policy. Participants are welcome to join the debate.
This workshop is offered free of charge to participants in the ISSA Conference 2019 and to others who are interested. Lunch and coffee breaks will be served.
Visit the registration page to reserve your place at this pre-conference workshop. This event has a limited number of seats.
